Dr. Sal Russomano
It took a while, but Dr. Sal Russomano is officially on the Bacharach Physical Medicine team, after years of having privileges but working independently with his partner Dr. Arvind Baliga.
Dr. Russomano grew up in Newark, NJ. An exceptionally gifted student and an only child, he attended Seton Hall Prep and then Seton Hall University, where he majored in biology and minored in physics.
While in medical school at Rutgers UMDNJ, Dr. Russomano did a rehab rotation at a rehab center right near Cooper – and loved it.
At Jefferson for his residency, he spent years 2, 3 and 4 with Dr. Gerald Herbison, a doctor of physical medicine who had a history of polio. Doctors of physical medicine frequently perform electromyography (EMG).EMGs are nerve conduction studies used to diagnose diseases related to the neuromuscular junction such as muscular dystrophy, polio and myasthenia gravis.
Under Dr. Herbison, one of the world’s premier electromyographers, Russomano performed as many EMGs as he possibly could.
He met Dr. Baliga during residency and began what has become a 25 year friendship and partnership. Together, they opened Mid-Atlantic Rehabilitation Associates, and established subacute rehabilitation at what was the Linwood Convalescent Center.
Today, a full time physician with Bacharach Rehabilitation Medicine, he could not be happier or more enthusiastic about the change. “I love it, love it, love being at Bacharach,” he said recently. “I can just focus on patient care 100%.”
The extended Bacharach family welcomes Dr. Sal Russomano to the finest rehabilitation team in South Jersey.
