Linda Conner Named Director of Admissions
Linda Conner, RN, BSN, MSN, MHA, did not intend to become a nurse, but worked instead in the insurance industry in Lancaster. While there she met many coworkers who were nurses, and eventually she found herself at Atlantic Cape Community College in the nursing program.
During her second semester there, she got a job at Bacharach as a Nurse’s Aide, and fondly remembers the women who trained her: Joanne Adcock, Patty Bergman and Lois Bradley.
Linda worked for AtlantiCare’s City Division in the trauma step down unit. She remembers Etta Hand, the Bacharach liaison at the time, on the unit. “I never knew that someday what she was doing would be what I would end up doing.”
She also worked at Shore Medical Center for a period of time, but she returned to Bacharach in 2007. In between working and raising a family, Linda earned her BSN, MSN and MHA from University of Phoenix, over a course of about 6 years.
To her new position as Director of Admissions, Linda brings her years of nursing expertise and relationships forged in other settings. She will apply these strengths to the task of helping the right patients receive access to inpatient medical rehabilitation.
The biggest challenge to access is the insurance providers. “Insurance companies don’t like to approve acute rehabilitation any more. Amputees – strokes – they want everyone to go to subacute.”
“The strategy is to grow relationships and to work on re-education, making sure people know we are here. We will also do some specific marketing through data on referral patterns.”
“As for me, I love it here. Being at Bacharach is actually a really great fit.”
