Mary Adekunle invites you to schedule a free sleep screen during Sleep Awareness Week, March 11- 17, in either our Galloway or Hammonton sleep center.

Nearly 40 million American men and women suffer from sleep disorders according to the National Sleep Foundation, “Sleep is essential to feeling refreshed and rested and is an indispensable part of a healthy lifestyle.”  Every March, the National Sleep Foundation sponsors Sleep Awareness Week, designed to educate the public and promote awareness about the importance of sleep.

Mary Adekunle, clinical director of the Bacharach Sleep and Neurodiagnostics Center, shared, “What many people don’t realize is that sleep problems can be disruptive to both physical and mental health.”  Obstructive sleep apnea is a common sleep disorder that occurs when the airways close during sleep, preventing air from entering the lungs and causing breathing to stop and start repeatedly. Mary explained, “Not only can sleep apnea exacerbate heart disease and hypertension, it can also cause memory issues since information is stored in our brain while we sleep.”

Snoring is a common symptom of sleep apnea.

The Bacharach Sleep and Neurodiagnostic Center’s team includes physicians who are board-certified in sleep medicine and brings together advanced diagnostic tools and years of experience to develop an individualized care plan that helps patients successfully manage their sleep issues and get the sleep they need. Offering the only pediatric sleep center in the region, the Center specializes in treating sleep disorders in children.

In addition to diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders, the Center offers follow-up sessions, referral services, support groups and counseling to improve treatment tolerance and outcomes.
